So you want to throw a board game night but your not sure if any of your friends are interested in sitting down for games.  After all, board games take time to play and there are so many other options like movies and the ol’ night out on the town. However you will be surprised at how many of your friends would love to play games with you if they can be convinced.  

Many of your friends have mixed feelings about the games they played as a child.  They probably remember long, and contentious games of Risk or Monopoly and don’t want to repeat that experience.  So here are 5 things to mention: when introducing friends to board games to remind them of the good times that we all spent being close and personal with the people we enjoy around the board game table.

  1. Remind your friends of the people they are missing and how they really want to spend time with them in a real way.

  2. Tell a personal story about the fun you have had playing a game you would like to introduce them to.

  2. It should be informal and intimate with adequate table space

  1. Remind them that board gaming is a free event.  There is no fee to play!
  2. Be sure you plan your night when no big events are scheduled no one wants to give up concert seats, or anniversary plans
  3. Be sure to know your games, and not to waste your friends time with excessive rulebook reading.  We all know the phrase time is money and that is true with board games too.

  1. Be sure to sweeten the pot by providing refreshments and drinks.
